About Our Wines

2013 Chardonnay

Origin: Atlas Peak District, Napa Valley, Antinori Napa Valley Family Estate named Antica Napa Valley.

Alcohol: 14.5%

Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Production: 57 cases

Vineyard: Chardonnay grapes are from the Reserve vineyard, ten acres in size. The vineyard is planted at an elevation of 1420 feet, in the volcanic soil series Aiken Loam. It is planted at a vine density of 1815 vines per acre and divided equally among five distinct Chardonnay clones that contribute to the wine's complexity through the clonal diversity. Clones Dijon 96, Dijon 76 and Weimer Burgundian Selection provide for the complexity in flavors while clones Prosser 15 and Martini 4 provide the natural acidity that brings balance and a mineral character to the wine.

Tasting notes: Aromas of stony minerality awaken the senses with this striking Chardonnay. This wine is well defined and absolutely ethereal.  You’ll revel in the citrus blossom, spiced Asian pear, lemon grass and hints of saline that meld with a bright level of acidity and glide gracefully across the palate.  Gorgeous underlying oak nuances are subtle and beautifully integrated; stunning! Ellen Landis, CS, CSW

Tasting notes: The brilliant, pinkish-red jewel tone of this lively wine catches the eye, and intoxicating aromas of mushrooms and damp earth leave no question Pinot Noir awaits in the glass.  The earthiness is mirrored on the palate, interlacing with juicy raspberry, red cherry, and strawberry fruit, tinges of tea spice, and cola.  It's nicely balanced with a touch of oak well positioned in the background.  Refinement and finesse characterize this elegant Pinot Noir. Ellen Landis, CS, CSW
