About Our Wines

2012 Chardonnay    Gold Medal winner 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

2010 chardonnayOrigin: Atlas Peak District, Napa Valley, Antinori Napa Valley Family Estate named Antica Napa Valley.

Alcohol: 14.4%

Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Production: 64 cases

Vineyard: Chardonnay grapes are from the Reserve vineyard, ten acres in size. The vineyard is planted at an elevation of 1420 feet, in the volcanic soil series Aiken Loam. It is planted at a vine density of 1815 vines per acre and divided equally among five distinct Chardonnay clones that contribute to the wine's complexity through the clonal diversity. Clones Dijon 96, Dijon 76, and Weimer Burgundian Selection provide for the complexity in flavors while clones Prosser 15 and Martini 4 provide the natural acidity that brings balance and a mineral character to the wine.

Tasting notes: This 2012 vintage stays true to the impressive Burgundian style Chardonnay Trojak-Knier Winery has crafted for years.  Irresistible spice-accented pear aromas captivate the nose and coat the mouth; absolutely delicious.   Butterscotch notes and a well defined thread of minerality add complexity.  This Chard is immensely flavorful, finely tuned and elegant with its silky texture and dazzling kick of acidity.  The persistent finish tops off the beautiful package. - Ellen Landis, CS, CSW
